Rob Gronkowski practices for second straight day

Gronkowski left the AFC Championship Game in the second quarter after a nasty hit by Jacksonville Jaguars safety Barry Church and did not return.

Both Gronkowski and Wise are in the NFL's concussion protocol, but it appears like they are trending in the right direction. Big performances by Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks helped the Patriots escape with a win at home, but having Gronkowski back will put a lot of pressure on the Eagles' defense.

New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski said he expects to be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday. That suggests he's close to being cleared for full participation.

Gronk had not spoken to reporters since the injury and did not participate in Media Night Monday, but answered questions after a public event with LeGarrette Blount at the Mall of America where the former teammates played Madden NFL head-to-head.

"It's always great to have him out there".

"Yes", Gronkowski said with a smile when asked by ESPN's Josina Anderson if he thought he would play in the game.

Eagles defensive end Chris Long, who played for the Patriots in 2016, knows the difference it will make for New England to have Gronk on the field. I'm not the guy to say I'm out of the protocol.

The 28-year-old tight end hauled in 69 receptions for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns this season, reaching his fifth Pro Bowl and being named a first-team All-Pro for the fourth time as a result.
