He guest starred on many television shows such as "Grimm", "The Wire", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "House of Cards", and drama "Outcast".

Cathey, who was born on August 18, 1958, in Huntsville, Alabama, spent his childhood in West Germany before studying theater at the University of MI and the Yale School of Drama.

The 59-year-old actor played Freddy, the owner of Frank's favourite BBQ joint, in House of Cards. He spent much of his childhood in West Germany before returning to America and studying theater at both The University of MI and the Yale School of Drama. He returned to HBO to star in the Oprah Winfrey movie The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lack past year. On wit alone, he could double any man over and leave him thinking.

He also played Baltimore politician Norman Wilson on the HBO drama the The Wire. Reg was the kindest man, the most giving actor, a true gentleman.


"The Wire" creator David Simon confirmed the news on social media as he wrote, 'Reg Cathey, 1958-2018. "Our sympathy goes to his family", Netflix said in a statement to variety.com on Friday.
