Volkswagen Arteon makes USA debut at Chicago Auto Show

Chicago, IL Feb 8, 2018;; Volkswagen of America, Inc., unveiled the all-new 2019 Arteon at the Chicago Auto Show.

The stylish Volkswagen Arteon has a wide and a coupe-like design. The Arteon was recently unveiled to the U.S. market at the Chicago Auto Show.

"The Arteon is Volkswagen's brand shaper", the North American Region, Volkswagen CEO Hinrich J. Woebcken said. "This vehicle is the spiritual successor to the CC, but it is bolder and faster".

It's a tricky time for sedans, and the Arteon is making its own niche as a premium offering that is larger and nicer than the Passat midsize sedan, but not quite as nice as the Audi A5. But you won't confuse those products from a visual standpoint.

The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon has been a long time coming. From the side, Arteon is accented by slit-like exhaust ports that stretch from the creased front fenders into the front doors. Arteon is longer and wider as well, translating into more interior space.

Arteon is offered with standard 18-inch alloy wheels, though 19s are available.

The exterior look suggests the Arteon is a premium model and the interior reinforces that impression, with materials that are a cut above the mainstream norm.

Standard features on all Arteons will include heated front seats, LED headlamps, forward collision assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitor, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto support. There is, in fact, an emphasis on technology, with an optional, reconfigurable "virtual" instrument cluster. Driver-assistance technologies such as advanced adaptive cruise control (with stop-and-go), semi-automated parking assistance, and a surround-view camera are also available in the Arteon.

When it eventually arrives at dealerships towards the end of the year, the 2019 Arteon will come with only one engine that's been specifically tailored to American demands, and that's a 2.0-liter TSI turbo. Buyers will get the choice of front- or all-wheel-drive, however.
