Paulo Fonseca to replace Sam Allardyce at Everton?

The Norwegian forward Alexander Sorloth impressed both defensively and in attack, but was unable to register his name on the scoresheet.

Donegal's Seamus Coleman was taken off at half-time during Everton's 3-1 win over Crystal Palace in the English Premier League at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, Oumar Niasse, and Tom Davies all found the net to secure a comfortable win despite Luka Milivojevic scoring a late penalty for the Eagles.

"Sam called me on Thursday and I was happy to accept that apology", Hodgson said.

Everton leapfrogged Bournemouth to climb to ninth on 34 points from 27 games and are within two points of out-of-form Burnley in seventh. Palace were missing Mamadou Sakho through injury, and Wilfried Zaha was absent after damaging knee ligaments in the draw with Newcastle last week, but the former England manager did not believe these were significant reasons for the defeat, also praising the contribution of debutant Sorloth.

Indeed, the Everton boss instead sought to accentuate the positives of a second-half performance he believes saw his team outplay the Gunners. They were in the Leicester game together, where they were very good, and we got them back in there today.

Having managed previously at Porto after spending a number of years as a player there, Fonseca has gone from strength to strength in management and was the named coach of the year in 2016/17 in Ukraine's top-flight. The players mastered the game well from start to finish.

"It was not because we were totally outplayed and not because Zaha did not play". I would have thought Mangala will be the less serious of the two injuries.
