Indian Mujahideen Terrorist, On The Run Since Batla House Encounter, Arrested

Khan, who was present at Batla House with four others, had managed to evade the police during the encounter on September 19, 2008 in Delhi's Jamia Nagar.

According to Delhi Police, Ariz Khan alias Junaid, is an "expert bomb maker, conspirator, and executioner".

He is also suspected to have been involved in the Batla House encounter that took place in September 2008.

DGP of a special cell, Pramod Singh Kushwaha added in a statement that there are more than 165 people killed in the various incidents done by Ariz Khan and he was hiding from the police since 2008. "In the same year, Khan was also involved in the Jaipur serial blasts which killed 63 people and left over 200 people injured", said Kushwah. This is another victory for the Delhi Police, as Kushwala said that Ariz was related to Atif Asim, who had been shot dead by the police during the encounter and had been responsible for various terrorist acts. Five bomb blasts within a span of 30 minutes rocked had rocked the national capital killing 30 and injuring over 100. "He was ideologically much more radicalised than other members of the IM", police said.

Khan was arrested from near the India-Nepal border when he came to meet an old contact. He later managed to get citizenship and a passport of the country in the name of Salim Khan, through fake papers.

In November 2007, three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were thrashed at the Lucknow sessions courts.

He remained in Nepal till 2014 and during this period he came in touch with Riyaz Bhatkal who motivated him to come to Dammam, Saudi Arabia for arranging money to revive the IM in India, he said.

"During the past few months, inputs were received through different sources that absconded terrorists of IM and SIMI have set up their base in Nepal and are frequently visiting India to indoctrinate unemployed youth", he said. He had planned to teach them a lesson and planted IEDs across the Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad courts which killed 15 dead, police said.
