Valentine's Day moral police harass, harangue couples, get animals 'married'!

Bajrang Dal activists staged a protest near Abids circle against celebrating Valentine's Day here on Wednesday morning.

In some videos recorded by passers-by purportedly of the incident, several people carrying saffron flags and wielding sticks could be seen threatening couples to leave the spot. The miscreants were later detained by the police. "We will take pandits with us and if we find someone in the garden we will get them married immediately", Manish Moriya, member of Nagpur Bajrang Dal said.

Members of a far-right Hindu nationalist group, in yet another incident of moral policing and cultural bullying, harassed couples at Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Waterfront in India, reported Indian media.

Mumbai: To stop people from celebrating Valentine's Day on Wednesday, a group did something weird. The Hindu outfit has warned that couples found celebrating this "alien" festival in public, will be married off with immediate effect.


Police officials have said that they will be maintaining the same security cover like previous year and 23 teams will be deputed at the Jubilee Hills area on Wednesday. The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike organized the "marriage" of two sheep and also urged the state government to provide financial support to couples who marry for love.

It also barred students from coming to campus on the day.

"We should not object to Valentine's Day because love does not have any community or caste".

In Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow University has declared February 14 a holiday. "In this connection, students are notified that the university will be closed on February 14, 2018, for "Mahashivratri", said the university advisory, according to ANI, which obtained a copy of the document.
