Upcoming iPhone X model rumoured to feature 6.5-inch display, gold colour

Upcoming iPhone X model rumoured to feature 6.5-inch display, gold colour

In last year's Q4, only 77.3 million handsets were sold, while analysts' expectations stood at 80.2 million iPhones.

Many believe the iPhone X's wallet-busting price tag contributed to its lackluster sales. Allowing apple to cater to markets with a demand for more budget devices.

Apple declined to comment. The shares gained 2.1 percent to $179.18 at 2:16 NY.

Apple's widely reported plan to create separate larger, faster, and cheaper versions of the iPhone X became clearer today thanks to a report from Bloomberg.

Like the iPhone 8 Plus, the giant iPhone would probably have a split-screen mode that lets users run apps side by side.

The big iPhone X with a 6.5-inch display will sport a resolution of 2688×1242 pixels. They'll have Face ID and stainless steel edges just like the current iPhone X. Apple is considering a gold color option; however, it abandoned that color previous year due to production problems. Other details on the new iPhone X model are sparse, though Apple may need to consider an overhaul of the smartphone as the current model has underperformed expectations. And to add more, both of them will be featuring stainless steel edges, which is quite similar to the iPhone X. The iPhone X aside, Apple's recent phones have been closely aligned with 2014's design language. And if everything we've heard so far about Apple's upcoming new 2018 iPhone lineup is true, we're going to get our wish this coming September. Bloomberg is also claiming that there will be a gold option to appeal to Asian consumers.

In another interesting piece of information, it is revealed that Apple could again propose a golden color on some models.

In at least some regions, Apple is considering offering a dual-SIM card option for the larger model. Speaking SIM, eSIM technology is also another possibility but it might not go through due to some carriers not supporting the idea.

It is considering releasing a dual-SIM variant as well. Like the first iPhone X, it won't include a home button and will have an edge-to-edge display, sans bezels.

KGI also said 2018 will be the end for Touch ID and that all iPhone models will embrace Face ID.

To keep the cost of the device down, Apple will use an LCD screen similar to the one used on the iPhone 8.

Apple has tried selling cheaper phones in the past with poor results.
