Mourinho: I found a way to cancel out Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku chose the visit of former club Chelsea to end his scoring drought against the Premier League's top teams and produce his best performance for Manchester United.

Lukaku's goal was his 13th in the Premier League this season but his first against a team now in the top eight. Jesse Lingard provided a header to help Jose Mourinho's side get to second place in the league table.

Pep Guardiola's side are running away with the title this season as they are now 13 points clear of second-placed Manchester United with a game in hand.

"They have the bulk of the squad that should be challenging for the Premier League but they need to merge in to a team and that's Jose Mourinho's job".

Chelsea, the soon-to-be dethroned English champions, were the visitors to Old Trafford, and were looking to do the double over their former manager.

The two have exchanged multiple verbal jibes, most notably in January when Mourinho appeared to allude to a suspension Conte served in relation to match-fixing in Italy.

Chelsea's flowing football did eventually pay off when they took the lead on 31 minutes courtesy of Brazilian midfielder Willian.

Willian picked up the ball just outside his own area and drove through the United midfield before exchanging passes with Eden Hazard. Part of what made United a tough club to thrive in for forwards in recent years is how their approach to football has changed post-Alex Ferguson. Once they did, the equalizer arrived. Intricate passing saw the ball eventually land with Anthony Martial, who put an inch ideal ball back to Lukaku to tap in from five yards. Lukaku scored the equalizer before providing an assist to Jessie Lingard, who scored the winning goal. It's not Harry Kane levels of production, of course, but it's nothing to scoff at.

Kane headed home from Christian Eriksen's corner in the 88th minute to make up for two glaring misses earlier in the match at Selhurst Park. We are very disappointed about this.

They have home ties against Liverpool and Arsenal to come alongside a trip across Manchester to take on City, but of their other seven matches - the highest ranked team now is 10th-placed Watford, who United are yet to host. "I think I have got a nice record". We didn't have a great balance.

They have moved ahead of him in the race for this season's golden boot.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino felt his team deserved the victory after having more than 75 percent of possession. Let us know in the comments section below.

He played a crucial role as they secured their first Europa League title in the 2016-17 season after defeating Ajax in the final game.
