49ers win coin toss, pick ninth overall, Raiders 10th

The 49ers won a coin toss against the Raiders and now own the ninth pick in the draft. Picking in the top-10 was not expected in 2018, but it enables the team to bring in some elite talent, or trade back with a team like the Buffalo Bills and pick up two first-rounders.

With the 49ers' win, the New England Patriots receive the 43rd overall pick for trading quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

"Bad flip", Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said when asked for his reaction to losing the coin toss. In April, he turns 32 years old, and it's hard to find someone that age who actually performs at a high level for 16 games in the physically demanding position.

This Raiders team is a lot better than their 6-10 record from last season, and having 11 picks this April is only going to make them better. The Dolphins had a slightly easier strength of schedule, which is based on the record of their opponents.

It remains to be seen who 49ers general manager John Lynch will pick at No. 9. Both are looking for cornerbacks, linebackers and edge rushers, meaning players like Iowa cornerback Josh Jackson, Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith and UT-San Antonio's pass rusher Marcus Davenport could be at stake.

Leading up to the coin toss, neither team seemed to be taking the proceedings too seriously. That's easier said than done as the former staff wanted to keep Lynch fresh and limit his touches for a reason. "But Rod Woodson has a job for life".
