'Pari' is Anushka's best work ever: Virat Kohli

Anushka Sharma's much awaited supernatural thriller film Pari has hit the theatres today and has been gathering a great response from the audience and the critics alike.

And according to reports by the Geo TV, Pakistan's censor board banned the horror film as it "reportedly contains objectionable sequences where Quranic verses have been used". The movie also seems to be promoting black magic which is against the Islamic principles, the representative added.

Pakistan-based Nueplex Cinemas posted on Facebook, confirming the news and at the same time claiming to refund the money for already-sold tickets.

Helmed by Prosit Roy, Pari also stars Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee in the lead role. Anushka's hubby Virat Kohli watched the film at a special screening last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The concepts within Islam have different ideologies about magic.

The Chairman of the Pakistan Film Distributors Association Chaudhry Ejaz Kamra agreed with the decision on banning Pari.

No official word from Central Board of Film Censors has been released as yet. Pari is the second Indian film which is banned in Pakistan this year. The members of the board denied the film a no-objection certificate, saying that it deals with "taboo" subjects such as menstruation.

Reacting to the bans, Pakistani filmmaker Syed Noor said that Padman should have been released in the country.
