LOST IN SPACE Season 1 Trailer + Poster Key Art

The original Lost in Space was about the Space Family Robinson heading out into the unknown to pioneer a colonising mission.

And though it is still billed as a family program, this Netflix trailer for "Lost In Space" does look pretty damn scary for kids.

Now Netflix has rebooted the campy original series as a serious sci-fi action-adventure.

Netflix today released the full trailer for its upcoming reboot of Lost in Space. The revival follows the Robinson family, space colonists who "find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a unsafe alien environment, lightyears from their original destination".

They took their sweet time, but Netflix has finally found the final piece of the Lost in Space remake casting puzzle and completed the main cast.

The 1965 original series followed the Robinson family, who are selected by the USA government to colonize a planet of the nearby Alpha Centauri system. Along with two outsiders, they wind up stranded on a planet with some treacherous terrain and harsh conditions.

Toby Stephens (Black Sails, Die Another Day) and Molly Parker (House of Cards, Deadwood) star as the family's parental leaders who are struggling with their estranged relationship in the midst of trying to keep their family safe.

Parker Posey's Dr. Smith, meanwhile, confesses that her agenda with regard to the wayward space travelers is, well, "complicated". The cast also includes the aforementioned Posey plus Ignacio Serricchio as Don West. "The original Lost in Space series was created by Irwin Allen".

The 10-episode series, slated for a 2018 premiere, hails from Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter), with Zack Estrin (Prison Break) serving as showrunner.
