"Luke Cage" Season 2 Premieres June 22 on Netflix

Later this week, Jessica Jones Season 2 is hitting the streaming service, but in advance of that, Netflix has released the first tease for the second season of Luke Cage. The video itself doesn't reveal much about the story, but it's evident from the description that the stakes have changed.

Netflix dropped the trailer Tuesday for the second season of Marvel's "Luke Cage" and from the clip it looks like it's going to be explosive. The question is whether or not Netflix can maintain those strengths while expanding beyond familiar territory. Now, a little over a year after the first season premiered, Harlem's favorite hero is ready to jump back into the spotlight with Luke Cage Season 2. Despite being based on a largely unknown character, the show captivated audiences and successfully introduced Luke Cage to a new generation of fans.

"You can't burn me, you can't blast me, and you definitely can't break me", Luke Cage proclaims to the camera in the teaser.

Last year, Iron Fist Season 1 was released on March 17, The Defenders Season 1 was made available on August 18, and The Punisher followed (after a delay) on November 17. The next minute, Marvel/Netflix slap us in the face and tell us Luke Cage is about to tear up the summer. You can watch the premiere-date trailer for Luke Cage below, thanks to an early morning upload from Netflix.

It's probably safe to assume that Rosario Dawson's Claire and Simone Missick's Misty Knight will be present, which is good news. Lucy Liu directed the premiere of the new 13-episode long season. We'll find out when the series debuts on Netflix in June.
