Ex-Arsenal Player Gets Red Card Amid Farcical Referee Mix-Up

The Englishman spent 15 years in north London, 11 of which with the academy, but never made the cut as a senior player.

He has also played in the Championship for Leeds United and had spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Southend, Crawley and Colchester.

Watt was ushered over by the referee to be booked during the second half of Hemel Hempstead's clash with East Thurrock in the National League South.

You see, Hulme thought Watt was saying "what", and when he came back asking his name again, and again, the cycle kept repeating.

It just happened to turn into the most unusual red card. But that is when a controversy began that even VAR could not have cleared up.

Thankfully for Watt it was only after Hemel captain Jordan Parkes explained to the referee about the misunderstanding that the red card was rescinded and the yellow was issued as originally planned.

Watt, on loan from Billericay Town, had scored earlier on in the game to give Hemel Hempstead a 2-0 half-time lead - which they held onto to claim all three points at Vauxhall Road. We pick out some of the best reaction to the "Watt, what" red card.

"And all of sudden the colour of the card changes to yellow".

The first card was for kicking away the ball.
