Cristiano Ronaldo double sees Real Madrid edge past Eibar

Ramos went off on minute 73 before Ronaldo had scored his second goal to give Real Madrid all three points in a 2-1 win.

After almost half an hour, Real's coach Zinedine Zidane was forced to make the first change, bringing in Nacho for Raphael Varane, who left the field after a skull-to-skull collision with Kike Garcia.

First, the unmarked Takashi Inui headed over from seven yards out and then Kike Garcia hit the side-netting with only Keylor Navas to beat.

Ronaldo had two more excellent chances - on either side of Ramis' equalizer - to grab another goal but was denied by superb one-handed saves from goalkeeper Marco Dmitrovic.

Sergio Ramos made a swift exit during Madrid's win against Eibar.

Ronaldo broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when he controlled a Luka Modric pass on his chest before breaking into the area and scoring.

The visitors unsuccessfully sought the equalizer before the break, but all they got were several corners.

The 26-year-old has since been linked with a return to Spain, with speculation the Ligue 1 leaders could allow him to leave for nearly double the amount they paid.

As Eibar floundered to take opportunities in front of goal, Real crowned an improved second-half as Dani Carvajal set up CR7 who dispatched a powerful header into the roof of the net.

Luck appeared to have deserted Madrid after they wasted several chances, with Ronaldo among those guilty, but the Ballon d'Or holder produced an emphatic late header with his 17th goal in 10 games, moving them to within four points of Atletico, who face Celta Vigo on Sunday.
