Patty Jenkins confirms Kristen Wiig will play Cheetah in 'Wonder Woman 2'

Jenkins reportedly became the highest-paid female filmmaker in history when she signed on to direct the sequel to the 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman. Can't wait to finally work with one of my favorites.

Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston introduced the villain in "Wonder Woman No. 6" in 1943.

"So excited to confirm the most thrilling news!", Jenkins tweeted.

Obviously, the ability to interact with cats is vital to any portrayal of a character named Cheetah, and Wiig and her Ghostbusters co-star Kate McKinnon are both ultra feline.

Wonder Woman 2 is going to be the second movie in the series. Beyond Jenkins promising that Wonder Woman 2 will be totally different from Diana's origin story, development has been kept under wraps. And SO excited by what we have planned. It will be interesting to see her transformation for this promising villain.

Wiig will be playing the role of Cheetah, a/k/a Barbara Ann Minerva, an archaeologist who takes a bloodthirsty human-cheetah form thanks to an alliance with an ancient plant god, Urzkartaga. True to the animalistic nature of her transformation, Cheetah is fast, strong, and can comfortably hold her own in a brawl with the Amazonian member of the Justice League ensemble. Then allow us to tell you Why Kristen Wiig's Cheetah Casting Is Perfect.

Wonder Woman 2 is now scheduled for a November 2019 release.
