Air Canada: System-wide outage disrupts airport, aircraft operations

Air Canada has confirmed that airport systems, check-in and customer call centers are back online following a nationwide outage Monday.

The airport said flight AC8060 to Vancouver was cancelled due to a network outage. "We're now experiencing an interruption at our customer contact centers and [our website]", the carrier said. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working towards restoring our service as quickly as possible. "Thank you for your patience".

As Air Canada customers raised concerns about the situation, Toronto's Pearson International Airport also told customers over Twitter the airline was experiencing IT issues and that it was affecting flight schedules.

Many departing flights out of YVR are now being delayed.

The new Calgary to Palm Springs, and Edmonton to Las Vegas flights will be onboard Air Canada A320 and Air Canada Rouge A319 aircraft respectively, both offering premium and economy cabins.

The airline reported technical difficulties with its website on Monday morning and the issue impacted booking and check in services, operations and departures.
