Sherman is 'Vengeful' Towards Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers signed cornerback Richard Sherman over the weekend. Good news for him and for San Francisco; bad news for agents. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh later joined, according to Sherman. "They reached out nearly immediately".

"We went with him and (Chief Strategy Officer) Paraag (Marathe) to (Lynch's) office".

Sherman, a three-time first-team All-Pro, would have likely been a hot commodity around the league as he neared his first free agency period. It seemed to work with Sherman. And San Francisco finally has the upper hand. So what I saw from him was consistency, I saw poise, I saw leadership, I saw the respect of his teammates, I saw command of the offense.

Richard Sherman has revenge on his mind. I asked him to repeat that. And what is so unique is the response that we've seen from this.

Once healthy, Sherman will be expected to start opposite Ahkello Witherspoon in the Niners' Cover 3 defense.

"That had a huge part of it", Sherman said of Garoppolo's presence with the Niners. "I don't know if that's Pete's fault as much as I think it's too long for some of those players to be in this style of a system".

The concern is his health. Knowing Sherman, there will be fireworks. "He's betting on himself". Instead, the move is created to keep a favor to a player who has been a favorite of coaches and teammates since arriving in the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and Foster said the Seahawks have made it clear they hope to keep Shead in Seattle.

Sherman said he called the Seahawks to gauge their interest on matching the 49ers' offer but was turned down based on the incentives. As someone who has played with an edge since being drafted in the 5th round of the 2011 draft, Sherman plans to use any doubt as motivation. And they love the fact that Richard is sticking it right back to Pete and the Seahawks ... because many of them felt, and it may be in retrospect now, 'That culture, that loosey-goosey stuff, look what happened in the end.' You know what I say to every one of them? "It just threw a lot more gas on it and I appreciate that and I'm thankful for this motivation and inspiration".

Sherman also took to Twitter earlier today to address all the backlash he has gotten so far in the wake of going from the Seahawks to their hated rival in the 49ers. Afterward, Sherman and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson sit at a table provided them on the 49ers logo at midfield and chow on some turkey for the postgame television show. He specifically identified former 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

While percentages that agents are paid is largely not regulated, and depends on the contract between each athlete and their agent, it can amount to millions of dollars for the athletes who are able to earn the most lucrative deals.

Injuries aside, Sherman - once considered enemy No. 1 of the 49ers fanbase - was asked how he'd adjust to a once-hostile crowd. If he plays 90 percent of San Francisco's snaps and gets selected to the Pro Bowl-no sure thing, obviously, but achievable-the big numbers are waiting.

"It was chaos", Sherman said in a conference call Monday. "We've got a lot of work to do, but we feel like we're well on our way".

With all of this considered, Sherman said playing his former team at least twice per year factored into his decision.

Sherman, who negotiated his own contract, described the few days after being released by Seattle as "chaos".
