Sushma Swaraj says Naresh Agrawal's statement on Jaya Bachchan 'improper and unacceptable'

Her third term comes to an end on April 3.

Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agrawal joined the BJP on Monday with controversial comments on actor-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan, saying he did not find it right that Samajwadi Party (SP) chose one who "dances in films" over him for the lone Rajya Sabha post. "Films mein kaam karne wali se meri hesiyat kardi gayi, unke naam par humara ticket kataa gaya, maine isko bhi bahut utchit nahi samjha".

Agrawal, who lost out to Bachchan in the race for re-nomination to the upper house to Jaya Bachchan, today quit the Samajwadi Party and joined the BJP."I have been reduced to somebody working in films".

However, his new party warned him that they did not like the comment made by him on actress Jaya Bachchan.

Meanwhile, Goyal welcomed Agrawal to the party and said, "I heartily welcome my friend Naresh Agrawal in the Bharatiya Janata Party".

BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra, who was at the press conference, picked up the microphone immediately after Agrawal concluded his brief speech.

Following Nirupam's controversial remark, Irani filed a defamation case against the Congress leader.

Naresh Agarwal described his joining the BJP as "homecoming".

But his remark forced his new party to issue a disclaimer. His son, Nitin Agrawal, a SP MLA from Hardoi in UP, also joined the BJP. "I was influenced by the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath". We will do seva for the BJP.

When asked if BJP will only accept SP leaders, Mr. Bhatia said,"No, it is not like that". But I don't have any conditions.

In July previous year, Mr Agrawal's comment in Rajya Sabha during a heated debate on cow protection gangs had to be expunged.
