Missoula celebrates St. Patrick's Day

Green was the color of the day on March 11 as crowds gathered to watch the St. Patrick's Day Parade make its way up Kennedy Boulevard from its kickoff at Lincoln Park to the reviewing stand in Journal Square.

He has attended the Sussex County St. Patrick's Day parade every year since its start in Franklin, and he enjoys the camaradie and atmosphere. It attracts people from everywhere, who want to celebrate their Irish heritage. "St. Patrick's Day is just a fun day to usher in the spring and celebrate where you came from and where you're going and all the great things to be Irish", said Quinn Conaty.

In Dublin Irish actor Liam Cunningham, famous for his role as Davos Seaworth in television series Game Of Thrones, led the 2,000-strong parade.

The Democratic governor noted it wasn't that long ago when parade organizers had gone to the courts in multiple years to try to block gay marchers from participating.

Cork's Lord Mayor Councillor Tony Fitzgerald reviewed the parade with the guests of honour this year including a delegation from the Jersey City Police Emerald Society from the US.


"We come to them all the time".

St. Patrick's Day is a public holiday in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

For the 167th time, the lead group marching in the parade will be 800 members of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, of the New York Army National Guard.
