"Yakuza Kiwami 2" Brings the Fight to the West on August 28

Yakuza 6 is set to be released next month and you can check out review here. Sega announced a release date for Yakuza Kiwami 2, which brings its updated take on Yakuza 2 to PS4 in the west on August 28.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 has already released in Japan.

Unfortunately, there was no word on whether Hokuto ga Gotoku (Fist of the North Star) would be coming stateside or not, but perhaps if Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 2 sell well, Sega will bring it over as well. That's not all, though - pre-orders and first-run copies of Yakuza Kiwami 2 will come in an elaborate SteelBook featuring Kiryu and his fierce rival, the Dragon of Kansai, Ryuji Goda. Looks like I won't have to wait too long to continue the story. Visit the Yakuza Experience Website here: http://yakuza.sega.com/experience/. Completely rebuilt in the handsome Dragon Engine, the game will feature a brand new Goro Majima-centered campaign as well as new minigames. Experience gorgeous graphics on top of seamless transitions between battles or when entering or leaving buildings. All the in-game and cut-scene dialog has been re-recorded, with an emphasis on remaining "as true to the original as possible".

Big Hits, Minigames - Kiryu hasn't let his time away from the front lines tiresome his skills in combat or leisure. In addition to the usual arcade cabinets, the original Virtual-On arcade game will be playable, and the Cabaret system will return from Yakuza 0.

A lot of fans are excited that Sega has chose to finally listen to fans and bring the game over in its entirety for fans, and doing so in the exact same year that they've released Yakuza 6. Check out the announcement trailer above.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 will follow the story first told in Yakuza 2, which picks up around a year after the events told in the original game.
