Jay Bilas Releases His Score Prediction For Michigan-Villanova

MI had an 11-3 record in those games. And there will be no Hollywood ending for Loyola-Chicago.

On Monday night in San Antonio at the Alamodome, No. 3 MI and No. 1 Villanova will play for the 2018 NCAA national title.

The 1985 MI team didn't fall to a No. 16 seed, but in 2018, the first No. 1 seed did indeed suffer that fate when UMBC beat Virginia. Two top-seeds, Villanova and Kansas, who have their mail forwarded to the Sweet 16 every year, squared off to crown the other side of the championship game.

Villanova is 23-2 when it hits 10 or more 3-pointers in a game.

This season's Wildcats have been fairly dominant at the ideal time of the season: They've won nine straight games by double digits, last failing to do so on February 28 in a regular season overtime victory at Seton Hall. Indeed, they held Loyola to 57 points, their lowest total of the tournament. Of the 65 shots the Wildcats attempted, 40 of them were from deep.

Will nerves play a first-half factor? During the NCAA tournament, Villanova is 66-of-156 (42.3 percent) from beyond the arc. Villanova coach Jay Wright will occasionally have Brunson and Bridges play in the post and put the big men (Spellman and Paschall) on the perimeter - a perk of having big men that can shoot.

MI will try to slow the game down and make it a grinder, as their average length of possession is 18.7 secs (#309 in the nation). "They're super unselfish and will pass up a good shot for a great shot". We scored 22 points and that was kind of the only way we found our way to the basket, grab offensive rebounds and get second-shot opportunities. No big deal. Fisher proceeded to lead the No. 3 Wolverines to the championship with an 80-79 OT win against P.J. Carlesimo and Seton Hall. They've about covered it but I would say that Michigan's defense is what allows them to have poor stretches. MI held Loyola to 28 points in the second half after trailing 29-22 at the break. If Michigan goes cold, the scorching-hot Wildcats could take advantage and run up the score. So were guys like Duncan Robinson, Charles Matthews and Jordan Poole. Freshman Cameron Krutwig led Loyola with 17 points, while redshirt junior Clayton Custer had 15. With a blowout, it also could join those Tar Heels as the only national champions to win each NCAA tournament game by at least 12 points.

Villanova, which boasts the nation's best offense with 86.8 points per game and is shooting just over 50-percent, is now on a 10-game winning streak and beat the likes of West Virginia, Texas Tech and the Jayhawks during this run. On the season, the team ranks second in Division I in turnovers per game, committing just 9.3 on average. No other team will have a 98-year-old den mother like Jean Dolores Schmidt.

- Both favorites covered in the Final Four on Saturday.

The two schools will each have team-centric broadcasts, much like the Final Four.

"They can all shoot", MI center Moe Wagner said.

"And what I said to them was: The more you invest in something, the harder it is to give up. I couldn't be more proud and saddened that this is over with these kids".

In 1985, MI won the Big Ten and earned a No. 1 seed in the newly formed 64-team version of the tournament. "He'll get shots when they come, but he's going to play defense, he's going to rebound, he's going to block shots".
