Google Home and Google Home Mini officially launch in India

Google India head consumer hardware partnerships Suresh Vedula added, "We are very happy to partner with ACT Fibernet as we launch Google Home in India". One of the major use cases of such devices, controlling smart home devices is still in quite nascent stages in the country.

As promised, Mountain View-based Internet search giant Google has today launched the Google Home and Google Home Mini smart speakers in India. All three plans will come with free Google Home mini speaker. The Google Assistant lets us have a conversation with Google to help us get things done by telling us about our day, to finding the fastest route to work, or just setting an alarm for the next day all in Hindi. It's astonishing how well the product integrates with Google's services - if you're tied into the Google ecosystem, the Google Home has plenty to offer.

Google Home looks like an ordinary speaker at the first glance, but what lies within is an absolute treasure. The Google Home speakers come prepared with Google Assistant, which according to Google has more than 400 million clients over the globe.

On removing the gray coloured fabric cover, you see the internals of the Google Home, which comprises two 2-inch drivers and two 2-inch passive radiators.

Everything? We sure hope so, but it's not the case. The speaker also supports Chromecast, letting users stream movies, shows, and music onto their connected TVs or Google Cast speakers.

Stay tuned for our in-depth review of Google Home! Google bundled the Home review unit with a smart Philip Hue bulb, which can be controlled by Home. The virtual assistant, housed in the speaker, responds and awaits commands. So those who think it is merely a speaker are going to be surprised in many ways.

Google Home

Google Home is not at all portable.

Users will also be able to ask Google to "Play my Flow", which will dynamically generate a personalised playlist of old favourites and new tracks that's pulled together using algorithms, pre-existing listening habits and recommendations from editors.

Google Home is not for everyone. "The Google Home device must be plugged into a wall outlet at all times to work". It's not at all hard, but it's for sure expensive. The speakers are capable of giving real-time answers and can even pull up information that you seek from your Gmail. The Google Home was launched back in 2016 alongside the first-gen Pixel smartphones, whereas, the Google Home Mini was launched previous year in October alongside the second-gen Pixel smartphones.

The main competitor of Google, Amazon Echo, was launched in India on February, 20, with over 12,000 skills in the India Alexa Skills Store, and with the same prices. The plans have a rental of Rs 1,999, Rs 1,499 and Rs 1,299 respectively. Up to six people can connect their account to one Google Home. As for the price is concerned, the Google Home could be priced around Rs 10,000, while the smaller sibling could be priced around Rs 4,000.

For its intelligence, reliability, and performance, Google Home steals the limelight. That's definitely a leg-up on Amazon's Echo.
