Nigeria rise, Argentina, Iceland and Croatia fall in April Fifa Ranking

The latest FIFA World Rankings were released today and the Indian national men's team sits at 97, up two spots from where they were in March.

Meanwhile, the Football Ferns dropped 15 points and one position to 20th in the Fifa women's world rankings in March.

Inspired by their victory over Poland in March's global friendly, Gernot Rohr's men climbed five placed - a position which makes them the sixth best team in Africa behind Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco and Egypt.

The Red Devils jumped above Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and Lionel Messi's Argentina, who follow in fourth and fifth position respectively.

However, the country's group opponents at the FIFA World Cup in June all dropped after not too convincing performances last month.

Similarly, Tunisia moved up nine places displacing, Senegal as the continent's best-ranked team.

DR Congo, ranked third in Africa and 38th in the world, will not be in Russian Federation.

Kenya has sunk deeper by eight places in the latest Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings which were released on Thursday April 12. Sudan (126th), Tanzania (137th), Ethiopia and Burundi jointly rank in the 145th place.

The team's last win was a 5-1 rout of Azerbaijan on October 8, a result that completed a clean sweep of 10 victories from all of their 10 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Iceland also made a downward movement, falling four places from 18th to 22nd.
