OKC Thunder To Face Utah Jazz In First Round Of Playoffs

WITH HIS 16th rebound against the Memphis Grizzlies, reigning NBA MVP Russell Westbrook became the first player to average a triple-double in multiple seasons. On Wednesday, as Westbrook addressed the crowd after averaging a triple-double for the second straight year, Collison received a shoutout from his mercurial teammate. But for many of us, it marks only the second time in our lifetimes that we've seen the accomplishment which was last achieved by Oscar Robertson in 1961-62 before last season.

Either way though, it was really fun to watch Westbrook go as hard as he could in the final two games, grabbing a ridiculous 34 rebounds between the two.

Before the game even began, Russell Westbrook stood at center court and addressed the Oklahoma faithful in attendance, thanking them for their support over the past 10 seasons and welcoming their unmatched energy in the postseason. Westbrook has already clinched double-digit averages in scoring (25.6 points per game) and assists (10.1).

Last year, Westbrook went on a season-long tear following the icy departure of former MVP Kevin Durant for Golden State. Marc Gasol was wisely sat down for the last game and a bunch of other guys were ailing or tending to personal business (Tyreke Evans). He finished with a career-high 20 rebounds in a 137-123 win. Brewer was fouled on a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter and left the game for good with a knee sprain. If people could f-ing get 15 rebounds, they would. Bringing in George, one of the top players in the league, took the Thunder from 47 wins all the way up to 48 wins.

Steven Adams scored 24 points and Corey Brewer added 17 for the Thunder, who matched a franchise record with 20 made three-pointers. I thought we played phenomenal tonight. "I think it speaks to his greatness as a player". It just so happened that they played well as well.

George scored 26 points on 9-of-10 shooting in the first half. "It's just great that we played well enough to win". It's disrespectful to say those guys are tanking and trying to lose because those guys that are on the floor every night have something to prove, whether it's here, whether it's somewhere else.
