Comedian Will Ferrell taken to hospital after rollover crash in Southern California

Actor and comedian Will Ferrell was rushed to a hospital Thursday night after he was involved in a serious two-car crash in Southern California. The driver was in the second lane while Ferrell, two passengers and their chauffeur were in the high-occupancy vehicle lane to the driver's left.

The 50-year-old was reportedly on the way back from a amusing or Die event near San Diego where he appeared as Ron Burgundy, according to TMZ.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the four people in his SUV all suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital.

"Each year, hundreds of thousands of auto accidents occur in Temecula and other parts of California", the Ellis Firm said on their website. The California Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to BuzzFeed News' requests for information.

One different clip, posted by LA-OC.tv, reveals him talking on a mobile phone as he sits on a stretcher, with firefighters loading him into an ambulance. "Will and his colleague, Andrew Steele, were unhurt and have been released from an Orange County hospital".

"The driver of the Toyota apparently had fallen asleep and struck the rear end of the (Lincoln) Navigator causing it to hit the center divider wall", Reynoso said on Friday. A 27-year-old woman, who was not wearing her seatbelt, suffered critical injuries, AP reports.

The crash remains under investigation.

Following his auto accident Thursday night, Will Ferrell's reps at United Talent Agency released on statement regarding the comedic actor's status as of Friday afternoon. Ferrell was leaving a "Funny or Die" event where he appeared as Ron Burgundy.

TMZ said it has reached out to Ferrell's representatives to get an update.
