Did Rob Manfred shade Bud Selig with comments about Dodgers hosting ASG?

The official announcement by commissioner Rob Manfred came a day after multiple reports surfaced in Southern California that the Dodgers had been awarded the game.

Dodger Stadium will host the 2020 All-Star Game, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press.

The event will mark the first time that the stadium, home to the LA Dodgers, has hosted the league's mid-season exhibition game since 1980.

Stan Kasten, team president and CEO, donned a blue cap with the insignia "LA ASG 2020".

The last time the Dodgers hosted was in 1980, a game that Los Angeles pitcher Jerry Reuss actually got the win.

Earlier this year, 1st District Councilman Gil Cedillo introduced a motion saying that the Dodgers had agreed to pay $100,000 to cover the cost of additional services - such as law enforcement and traffic management - that the city would provide during All-Star Week.

"This is the most attractive venue ever built to play and watch baseball", Kasten said.

It will be interesting to see what sort of stadium improvements or changes roll out over the next few years to prepare for the All-Star game.

Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego played host in 1992 and its replacement, Petco Park, was the site in 2016. The Los Angeles Angels hosted in 2010 but...well, that was one in Anaheim.
