Blizzard warning for McLeod County

Blizzard warning for McLeod County

"Travel will be unsafe to impossible later today and tonight across the northeast plains", the weather service said in a Friday morning tweet. He said he did not know the condition of the four people hospitalized. "Damage to trees and power lines is likely". Near Valentine, there was a mix of rain and snow coming down. And this one is particularly strong.

A few lingering light snow showers are possible early Sunday before this system moves out and cold air stays in place this weekend.

The Minnesota counties impacted by the blizzard warning include Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, Carver, Dakota, Scott, Wright, Goodhue, Freeborn, Le Suer, Rice, Steele and Waseca counties.

Snow started to fall early Friday in Monument and Woodland Park.

Because of winter weather conditions, the Kansas Department of Transportation closed K-27 from the US 36 junction to the Nebraska state line, and USA 36 from St. Francis to the Colorado state line.

Meanwhile, Metro Transit reported Saturday afternoon that heavy traffic and snow were causing bus delays.

By the end of the snowfall, Yuhas expected between 6 to 12 inches of snow in the Twin Cities. Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour will make travel hazardous. The watch stretched through parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

The Telegraph will continue to report on the weather as new information develops. Severe storms are possible in these areas as well with hail and wind being the main threats but an isolated tornado is also possible.

Who said Friday the 13th brings bad luck?

Good morning everyone. Happy Friday!

In South Dakota, where a blizzard warning covered much of the state, authorities issued no-travel advisories for many highways and closed much of Interstate 90 in the western half of the state. Rapid City had already received 5.5 inches by 10 a.m.
