Sega Ages coming to Nintendo Switch

Sega Ages coming to Nintendo Switch

We've seen several major news drops this evening from that, including Shenmue I and II getting a release bundle on modern consoles.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of - and we don't want to be too hyperbolic about this but - one of the greatest video game consoles ever created, the team at Sega are giving the Mega Drive new life in teeny-tiny miniature form. Sega Ages features classic Sega games.

As promising as that sounds, the source interview linked appears to suggest that Sega is simply interested in distributing the AtGames Mega Drive Flashback which, per the review not great.

SEGA promised it would have "HUGE" news at SEGA FES 2018 earlier today and it delivered, offering not one, not two, but four rather impressive announcements.

Sega Ages Bringing Classics To Switch Beginning In Summer 2018

SEGA has, so far, only chosen to announce three games that will come to the collection, which are Phantasy Star, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Thunder Force IV.

Third, SEGA announced SEGA Ages for the Nintendo Switch and be available via the Nintendo eShop. The company also announced that it would be bringing a number of classic games to the Nintendo Switch this summer.

This could be a change in direction from the company's long-standing relationship with AtGames, whose Sega Genesis Flashback console tried, and failed, to match Nintendo's efforts previous year. We've reached out to Sega for details and will update this post accordingly.
