Kane and Sane are also in the running for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, as are Ederson, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham.

The duo are joined on the six-man shortlist by De Bruyne's City teammates David Silva and Leroy Sane as well as Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and Tottenham Hotspur marksman Harry Kane.

The victor will be announced at the PFA's annual awards ceremony in London on Sunday, 22 April.

That haul leaves him just two shy of the Premier League record for goals in a single 38-game season, with Liverpool still having five games to play.

Both Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne have been in tremendous form for their respective clubs this season.

Of the other contenders, Tottenham's Harry Kane has banged in 25 Premier League goals this season in yet another impressive campaign.

The Egypt global also faces off competition from Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

The North Lonodners are nearly assured of a top-four spot and Kane's 25 goals have played a key role in that.

De Bruyne tops the assist leaders with 15 and has also contributed seven goals, Silva has 11 assists and eight goals while Sane has 12 assists and nine goals. He also led Liverpool not only in the PL but also in the Champions League, playing a big role in defeating Manchester City at the quarter-finals.

This followed the release of the list as well as that of the Young Player of the Year.

Sterling, 23, is joint-fourth in the Premier League's scoring charts behind Salah, Kane and Sergio Aguero with 16 goals, and has also added eight assists.

While you wouldn't automatically assume Kane would be included in this list, its easy to forget how young he still is.
