Kellyanne Conway Gets Relentlessly Memed Over Response to Comey Interview

Senior White House advisor Kellyane Conway was sent to the media wolves and enduring the wrath of those on social media in the wake of the explosive ABC interview with former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, who had some harsh critique of the president.

The White House counselor was quizzed by CNN morning host Chris Cuomo on why President Donald Trump has not expressed confidence in special counsel Robert Mueller or deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein.

In her chat with Cuomo, Conway insulated that Comey didn't have the power to swing the election, contradicting herself from earlier statements.

My boss says he has confidence.

In case you didn't catch the segment, Comey called Trump "morally unfit to be president", and basically called him a pathological liar.

Trump lambasted Comey in a series of tweets before the ABC interview aired, calling him "slippery" and a "slime ball". Conway wasn't pleased and sarcastically responded "oh, Comey can just say what he wants?" while adding, "Don't just throw out sound bytes to go viral without letting me finish the sentence".

As director of the FBI, James Comey was in office from January 20, 2017, to May 9, 2017.

Trump, meanwhile, tweeted a slew of insults at Comey, whom he fired in May.

Conway said his opinion was limited to a few "personal engagements" with the president. "And Jim Comey had admitted that in testimony that nobody here had ever asked him to drop an investigation for political reasons".

"The President has made very clear that he never asked anyone to interfere in an investigation", she said. Now that Hope Hicks, the former White House communications director, has left the administration, Scavino is one of the last "original" Trump team members and is closer with the president than ever, the Times Magazine reports.

But Conway was corrected that Comey was referring exclusively to Justice Department officials, and was never asked about the President's request.

"Then you wait an entire year to play Paul Revere?" she asked. Did he call back the vice president?
