Aguero happy to have no last-day dramas!

The striker who is now on 199 City goals, missed their 2-0 win at Stoke on March 12, as well as their 3-0 defeat in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie away to Liverpool on April 7.

He returned to action as a late substitute in the derby defeat to Manchester United on 7 April, and again appeared as a substitute in the Champions League quarter-final second-leg loss to Liverpool three days later.

Aguero, meanwhile, is relieved that there will be no nerve-jangling at City this season after wrapping up the Premier League title with five games to spare.

City said it was a "minor operation", potentially easing concerns about the Argentina international's participation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation that starts on June 14.

Aguero missed most of City's games in March because of a left knee injury.

"This is my third title with City and it's just a relief not to have to wait (until) the final day this time", Aguero told City's Twitter account. "Hopefully (he will be back) for the last games, if we need him, and especially for the World Cup".

Pep Guardiola cast doubt over his fitness, suggesting that Ashley Young's reckless lunge at Aguero's ankle had caused his body stress.

Aguero, who moved to Manchester in 2011, became City's record goalscorer earlier in the campaign and now has 199 strikes for the club.

As part of a core group of players to have won every Premier League title with City, Aguero believes this year's achievement stands out more than the rest. "We have scored great goals, played fantastic football and learned together under Pep [Guardiola]".
