It made sense for a lawyer or an expert in legal matters to comment on judicial verdicts, the judge added.

During the hearing Pemra was slammed for not taking action on the complaints about airing of anti-judiciary content on the television channels.

It is the fourth full bench which decided the case as earlier three benches got dissolved due to different reasons.

Disqualified premier Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday stressed the need for respecting the "sanctity of vote" as it was linked to security, prosperity and development of the country.

The petitioners pleaded with the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Sharif and his daughter and restrain them from maligning the judiciary.

Ms. Maryam in her address had said: "The SC judges had asked Imran Khan (cricketer-turned-politician and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman) to file a petition so that they could oust Nawaz Sharif as he (Khan) had failed to make that happen through protest movement".

Sharif was referring to eight lawmakers from South Punjab who had recently left PML-N and launched their own "Junubi Punjab Sooba Mahaz".

The chief justice observed that the high court passed such orders in compliance with Article 19 (Freedom of speech) and 68 (Restriction on discussion) of the Constitution.

The former PM was addressing a "Vote Ko Izzat Do" seminar in Islamabad on Monday.

Lashing out at the Balochistan government, he said a government elected by the people had been toppled and an artificial structure was put in place. The meeting also discussed the political situation and other matters relating to the party.
