Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Android Oreo updates starting in UK

Samsung is famous (infamous?) for being dreadfully slow in getting software updates out to their older smartphones, so it is with a bit of joy and a bit of relief that we announce Android Oreo is finally rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, at least in the United Kingdom territory.

Such updates are rolled out in phases so please be patient, many Redditors residing in European Union have reported that they are receiving the update.

With the Oreo, Samsung has also updated the security patch level of the devices to 1st April.

After certain ambiguities regarding whether the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge will receive Android Oreo anytime soon or not. The 2016 pair is also joined by last year's Galaxy Note 8, which is getting software version N950WVLU4CRD5, but this update is for the Canadian market.

As it turns out, however, it seems that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will indeed be getting an update to Android 8.0 Oreo in just a couple of weeks, as Samsung itself has confirmed.

Do you use a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge as your daily driver?

In addition to the Google's Android Oreo, Samsung has integrated its own custom features in the upcoming software to enhance the user-experience of the Galaxy series phone owners.

All of the new features that are part and parcel of Android 8.0 Oreo are included in this release. Thankfully, the full Oreo update will roll out to everyone-in the U.S., at least-with other markets set to follow.

For a device that was the company's flagship for 2017, you'd think LG would have been quicker with the update.
