Yaya Toure will leave Manchester City in the summer - Pep Guardiola

Yaya Toure will leave Manchester City in the summer - Pep Guardiola

Guardiola in a pre-match conference on Friday eulogized the former Ivory Coast captain for his commitment and said the remaining games of the season will be focused on winning for him.

"The Brighton game we will give him what he deserves, one of the most attractive farewells a player can receive", Guardiola said.

Toure who joined Manchester City from Barcelona in 2010 for a fee of £24m, will play his last game for Manchester City against Brighton City on Wednesday.

Toure, playing in a midfield two alongside Fernandinho for the duration of the campaign, scored 20 Premier League goals and registered 9 assists for his teammates in 35 outings. Yaya Toure came here when this idea for the club started, and what we are in this moment is thanks to what this guy has done. "He was a key player", he said. "That's why we are delighted to prepare for Sunday's game, for our celebration, and after for Yaya".

"I stay for sure one more year", Guardiola said.

"It would be a good time to do it, playing at home in front of our fans - they deserve it, they have supported us in hard moments through the season and now deserve to celebrate the league title and the records", added Fernandinho.

The Brazilian midfielder told reporters: "It's a fact, we have a clear chance to break those records and we have to go for it".

Toure scored the winning goal in the 2011 FA Cup final against Stoke City, ending a 35-year trophy drought for his club and a maiden Premier League crown arrived the following season.

Guardiola said Belgium worldwide captain Vincent Kompany and England defender John Stones were fit and ready for Sunday's league game against Huddersfield Town after earlier injury problems.

"Of course it will be a special day", Guardiola said.
