WhatsApp gets new feature to open chat window: Here's how it works

Payments have already been popularized among social media users through apps like Messenger and WhatsApp, and now Facebook is apparently testing out a similar feature via Instagram.

WhatsApp rolled out a new update that makes it possible for users to watch Instagram and Facebook videos right within the messaging app. To enjoy this new features, you should update the app to the version number 2.18.138 and it is available only for Android right now.

The floating window also has controls for play and pause, and, there also is a button inside the window that allows the users to watch the video in full-screen if they wish to.

Previous year in November, Facebook-owned WhatsApp rolled out Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode support for YouTube for iPhone users. The photo-sharing app will soon receive AR camera effects that will offer better camera experiences, including face filters and effects, to the users. She noted that WhatsApp users already clocked over 2 billion minutes of video and audio calls, indicating the popularity of the feature.

WhatsApp has finally added the support for Facebook and Instagram videos. WhatsApp stickers is a fun way for users to communicate with each other, and will also allow third-party developers a chance to develop custom stickers for its large fan base.

It seems that Facebook is turning WhatsApp from a safe messaging app to just a general messaging app while taking away the security measures that its founders were so adamant on. The video chat will allow people to connect in real time via Instagram Direct.

Facebook also recently announced that WhatsApp Business, which launched in 2017, now has 3 million users.

The above update can also be considered to be in line with Facebook's continued focus on videos as the new growth engine.

About the dating app, the social networking giant stated that they are committed to building long-term relationships and finding a partner for life. With time, we expect Instagram to roll out this feature to other countries as well.

Reportedly, with Koum's exit, Facebook is planning to aggressively promote ads on WhatsApp.
