Florida Gov. will attend embassy opening in Jerusalem

Tel Aviv is the customary base for foreign embassies in Israel, with the United States and other countries having avoided Jerusalem because of its contested status.

The Palestinian side has been disappointed by the Trump administration's move to transfer the embassy to Jerusalem.

Furthermore the name change, despite President Trump's historic decision to move the US Embassy, comes under intense scrutiny. "We will continue, like this evening, to strike the terror infrastructure".

"From a total monopoly, into some sort of multilateralism that is really beginning to show".

"I think it will make it easier. That is a source of hope for the Palestinians".

Israel closed a main border crossing with the Gaza Strip and destroyed a Hamas militant tunnel on Saturday, a day after renewed violence between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces on the edge of the coastal enclave. "We have the greatest love for the President, and it will win!"

The Old City in east Jerusalem is home to key holy sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims.

"Tragically, the USA administration has chosen to side with Israel's exclusivist claims over a city that has for centuries been sacred to all faiths", the general delegation of the Palestine Liberation Organisation to the United States said. The Award was presented by Dr. Evans to President Trump this past December at a ceremony held in the Oval Office, after declaring he will move the embassy to Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Israel will welcome the embassy move and also mark its 70th year of independence since its creation in 1948.

While many Presidential candidates have promised to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, Donald Trump was the only one who recognized reality and delivered. But the Palestinians will refuse to countenance any of Mr Trump's offers moving forward.

It was not immediately clear from Ambassador David Friedman's remarks, on a call with reporters, whether Mr Trump will speak via a live videolink or a pre-recorded address.

"The Security Council, the General Assembly, the International Criminal Court, there are many resorts".

Only 35 per cent of those between the ages of 18 and 22 still favour a two-state solution, compared to nearly 60 per cent in the 40-49 bracket, said pollster Khalil Shikaki, whose surveys have an error margin of 3 percentage points.

The ambassador said staff at the Tel Aviv mission had just marked its last day as an embassy and some of them will turn up for work tomorrow at the Jerusalem embassy, which will host an opening ceremony later that day.

"Tragically, the U.S. administration has chosen to side with Israel's exclusivist claims over a city that has for centuries been sacred to all faiths", he said in a statement.
