Lethal Weapon Season 3 Renewed With Seann William Scott Replacing Clayne Crawford

Lethal Weapon Season 3 Renewed With Seann William Scott Replacing Clayne Crawford

A Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed with The Wrap that Crawford's firing was because of the behavior complaints, prompting them to not renew his contract.

"Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention 'Lethal Weapon" is receiving because of these incidents'.

Fox's Lethal Weapon has pulled the trigger on hiring a new co-lead, tapping American Pie's Seann William Scott to replace fired star Clayne Crawford, TVLine has learned.

For his part, Crawford says he's grateful to have played the "dream role" of Riggs and wishes the continuing cast and crew the best of luck on the third season. The news is now in from Fox and there's good and bad news for fans of the show. "Matt Miller (showrunner), his incredible team and everyone at Warner Bros. have been tremendous partners, and we're thrilled to bring this show back for another season". Lethal Weapon is a strong performer domestically and internationally - the film franchise is a global smash having grossed hundreds of millions of dollars - and the network was willing to work with the studio to find a way to move forward. While not going into exact details, we're told that in each instance there were disciplinary actions taken by the studio and the behavior continued. After noticing that he had set his Twitter account to private, multiple Twitter users accused Wayans of being responsible for getting Crawford fired, despite their being no official reports confirming that. With Scott - who will be playing a new character (possibly Riggs' brother) - in place, Fox has renewed Lethal Weapon for a third season. An actor on set felt unsafe because a piece of shrapnel from an effect hit him.

Lethal Weapon is a reliable performer for Fox but the show's future was cloudy due to some behind the scenes issues revolving around Crawford. As of just a few days ago, Crawford's Instagram posts also revealed he hadn't heard anything from the network and expressed hope he wasn't being fired. Zero communication with Fox or Warner Bros.
