Brad Stevens: "The praise is uncomfortable"

Brad Stevens:

"Now granted - don't get me wrong - he's a solid coach". They were both high draft picks, and a lot is expected of them, but the poise they have shown in this playoffs is still a good representation of what Stevens has been able to do with both of them.

But all of the praise is making the head coach a little uneasy.

"It is silly", Stevens said [ via ESPN ]. One thing that Al Horford is impressed with is just how well Stevens helps with the young guys. We all have a role to play. "We have a role to play and we all need to play that role as well as we can".

Stevens has never been one for the spotlight, and it's not a bad call to pass along all that glory to the guys on the floor.

With all eyes on the Celtics and Stevens in game 1, the C's didn't disappoint.

Ever since Stevens left Butler University for the Celtics, theories have swirled that he eventually would head back to the college ranks to take over at Duke University once legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski hangs it up.

Stevens, meanwhile, said the focus should be on his players during the postseason.

Stevens might not accept the recognition until he wins the Celtics an National Basketball Association title, but he deserves the credit now as Boston has improved their win total in each season under him despite the unforeseen circumstances with the roster due to injury. But you can't undersell what Boston's boy wonder does for his players.

There's no question Stevens has maximized the talent at his disposal, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown among the team's biggest surprises.

The Celtics will face the Cavaliers on Tuesday at 8:30 Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Finals series. When Gordon Hayward went down with a season-ending injury, everyone said that they didn't have a chance to compete in the Eastern Conference.
