Burnley free agent Arfield delighted with Rangers move

Scott Arfield has passes a Rangers medical and has jetted into Glasgow to sign for the club, according to a report.

Arfield has 12 caps for Canada, and has been with Burnley since 2013.

The 29-year-old has spent the last five years at Turf Moor, with 22 goals being scored in 193 appearances in all competitions.

Having played in the Scottish league with Falkirk between 2007 and 2010, it is believed that Arfield will not struggle to adapt to his new surroundings.

The first piece of transfer news from Ibrox since their recent manager switch-up has seen Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield join Rangers on a four-year deal after his deal at Burnley ran out.


"When you look at the style of football that Jurgen Klopp plays, I think every fan in the world loves watching that", Gerrard said.

Gerrard added: "It's pleasing also that we have been able to start our rebuilding process so quickly after the end of the season".

With the Premier League season now over, Burnley have given the green light for Arfield to be announced as the first signing of the Steven Gerrard era.

'There is much more to be done, ofcourse, as we look to build towards our Europa League campaign which will start inearly July. "There were a few options in England that could have crept up but as soon as this magnitude of club came in, and coming back up the road appealed to me and my family, it was a no brainer".

"If you don't get excited by it, you shouldn't walk through the front door", he said. "[His appointment] has given a boost to the whole game in this country".
