Aston Villa heading to Wembley after draw with Middlesbrough in Championship play-offs

"The boys have been superb and we're off to Wembley, one more to go".

Aston Villa are now preparing for tonight's huge game at home to Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Semi Final second Leg. Villa won the first leg 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium thanks to Mile Jedinak's early header, giving them a massive advantage ahead of the second leg at Villa Park. The neutrals' favourites are looking strong.Yet there's no point in Villa and Middlesbrough feeling glum when there's still so much to play for before this season's done and dusted.

Going up against a stern Aston Villa side with the third best defence in the Championship, conceding just 42 goals in 47 games before the game while also being marshalled by John Terry, the exciting winger was a tough man to keep quiet until he had to make a decision.

After a quiet start this week, the game's first chance arrived after 19 minutes as Villa's Conor Hourihane forced Darren Randolph into a good save with a shot from the edge of the box.

A minute's applause was held before kick-off for Jlloyd Samuel, the former Villa defender killed in a vehicle accident on Tuesday, before a first 45 minutes of few opportunities was played out in front of a packed crowd.

"It's hard for me to say that but that's being brutally honest".

A 0-0 draw on the night has ensured that Villa have become the 16th consecutive team to reach the second tier play-off final having won the first leg away from home.

Bruce has led two teams through the playoffs to the Premier League but expected a tight encounter against the Londoners. "There's still 90 minutes to play and anything can happen", he said. "We're going to Wembley, let's enjoy it".
