The luckiest and unluckiest teams in the NBA Draft Lottery

The NBA Draft Lottery played out exactly as expected for them Tuesday night.

Another letdown for the franchise. It is now 2018, 33 years after that lottery win.

The Cleveland Cavaliers sent Los Angeles the No. 25 pick, along with Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye, for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.in a mid-season trade.

Put Young on a team with the perimeter shooting ability of the Bulls, and you have an easy 10 assists per game - maybe all of them courtesy of Markkanen. "There's no strategy. There's no coaching".

He knows how to get into good rebounding position and really goes after the basketball. "You've got to cover, obviously, all your bases".

As far as the prospects available in this year's draft class, there are several promising players who could be franchise cornerstones, including Real Madrid playmaker Luka Doncic, Arizona centre Deandre Ayton, Michigan State big man Jaren Jackson Jr, Duke forward Marvin Bagley, Texas centre Mo Bamba and Oklahoma guard Trae Young.

"The main questions are how much of a defensive liability he'll be against explosive point guards, and whether he'll get his shot off as cleanly, both as a shooter and finisher at the rim". There's a good chance all those players will be gone when the Knicks select at nine when they'll have to choose between guys like Mikal Bridges, Wendell Carter, Collin Sexton, Zhaire Smith, and Miles Bridges. Any order within the top three will lose the selection and practically guarantee that their own pick doesn't land in the top-three.

Atlanta got the No. 3 pick - moving up with the Kings to get there. The Sacramento Kings obtained the second selection. Or the Sixers, who have a ton of cap space this summer, can utilize the pick as part of a trade package to bring in a third big-name star.

Who are the team representatives? Weltman's facial expression didn't change as Tatum opened an envelope and revealed the Magic's logo. They've won fewer than 30 games in five of the past six seasons. That was the greatest likelihood. "But you just take the results, and now it's time to work". Also, the lottery being held in Chicago has to mean something right?

New York Knicks: The NBA's biggest market needs another superstar, and with rumors that Kristaps Porziņģis might sit out next season recovering from a torn ACL, the league will want to prevent the Knicks from tanking next season.

Meanwhile, Weltman and GM John Hammond are continuing to search for a coach to replace Frank Vogel, who was sacked on April 12.

Of course, Kokoškov coached Dončić and the Slovenian national team to an upset gold medal in EuroBasket 2017, so this dynamic is certainly worth watching as we move forward.

Now in his 12th month with the Magic, Weltman has been tasked with making the team relevant again. In fact, San Antonio had been to the playoffs seven straight years before All-Pro center David Robinson got hurt.
