Trump says Melania "doing really well" after procedure

Trump says Melania

Trump's visit was not on the official White House schedule, but he made time for his wife as she recovers from a minor surgery on her kidney.

The first lady, 48, underwent an "embolization" procedure Monday morning at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center outside Washington, her office announced. I want to thank the incredible doctors. Mrs. Trump's spokeswoman had said on Monday that the first lady was likely to remain hospitalized for "the duration of the week".

Trump's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said the first lady had an embolization procedure, which starves the blood supply to the affected area. "She sends her love".

Earlier Tuesday, the president tweeted that she was "doing really well" and would be "leaving the hospital in 2 or 3 days".

The White House declared the procedure "successful" but has withheld additional information about her condition, citing the first lady's right to privacy. "Thank you to all of the well-wishers!" he wrote on Twitter.

Trump departed the White House on Marine One shortly after 4 p.m. and touched down at the military hospital in Bethesda, Md., roughly 10 minutes later.

The President of the United States of America Donald trump after a visit to first lady Melania in the hospital spoke about the health of his wife.
