Woods certain he'll win again

Woods certain he'll win again

270-Webb Simpson 66-63-68-73.

The 28-year-old PGA Tour player from Germany, a college star at Tennessee-Chattanooga, won his fourth career Web.com Tour title after failing to get into The Players Championship.

And having emerged from last year's career-saving back fusion operation, the man himself is clearly imbued with regenerated confidence.

"I've been fortunate enough to be part of a lot of leads, but I've never had anything close to this", Tesori said. "Unfortunately (I) just didn't cash in", Woods, who had been in contention in the final round in four of his eight starts this year, said. I felt good on basically every facet of the game. "I'm not that far off winning golf tournaments". Simpson was 10th on the PGA Tour going into the TPC Sawgrass. With his finish, he'll move up from his current ranking of 92nd.

'And one of my goals is to get into Akron [the name of the course used at Bridgestone] one last time before we leave there. "I've won there eight times and I would like to get there with one more chance".

Nonetheless, Woods likes how his game is coming together.

But it is what happened immediately afterwards that leaves cause for concern. Heading into the day with a seven-stroke lead, surely Simpson would be all smiles all day. He struck the ball cleanly, stared at intently and then watched it spin off the green. It was that mental strength that separated the 14-time major champion from the rest. (No. 12 Paul Casey withdrew because of a back injury.) The previous tournament to have had that was the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont.

And that U.S. Open victory seemed a long time ago. On the Sunday, he covered the same stretch in six under.

"I thought before [my father] passed that maybe the golf course would be the hardest place to be. but I think it's my favorite place to be. We miss him like insane, but I really wanted to do this for my mom". Golf's governing bodies became concerned - and voila, such a method went the way of the gutta percha golf ball.

"It's been bugging me pretty much the whole year", heh said. Former world number one Jason Day of Australia was in a group of five on 207 - but the tournament is Simpson's to lose.

"The question is when is he going to play again?" "I hit it good all day long, and it's just the way it goes".

"Because he did that and he performed". In all, it was unbelievable that so few golfers were able to mount a serious charge against Simpson after Friday, but the course is not user friendly.

For the second day running, Woods plundered the first 12 holes at TPC Sawgrass, this time picking up six birdies.

Simpson was not expected to blow a lead bigger than anyone had ever blown in the final round of a PGA Tour event but he said it was not as easy as it looked. He brought a surprisingly soft and scoreable Stadium Course to its knees with a combination of precise ball striking to conservative targets-he hit 82% of his fairways this week, the highest of any Players victor since famous fairway-finder Fred Funk won in 2005-and a hot putter, a belly-length flatstick that he clings to his left arm when he strokes it.
