Rapper TI arrested in Henry County on assault, disorderly charges

T.I. has been arrested for drunkenly attempting to enter his Atlanta home and getting into an altercation with a security guard, TMZ reports.

Some point after, T.I. called a friend and the two continued to argue with the guard, police said.

U.S. rapper TI has been arrested on disorderly conduct and public drunkenness charges as he tried to enter his gated community outside Atlanta.

Rapper T.I.is speaking out following his arrest in Georgia on Wednesday, insisting he was detained over bogus allegations. The rapper had allegedly forgotten his key but the security guard would not let him into the gated neighborhood, which resulted in an argument. Tip clearly identified himself and sought entry.

A lawyer for the Clifford Harris, Jr., otherwise known as T.I., wrote in a statement that the Atlanta-based rapper was arrested outside his own gated community after T.I. found the security guard "sound asleep".

Despite the headline-generating bust, Tip didn't spend much time in police custody or have to stand before a judge.

As for the assault charge, T.I. says he "may have been hurt by my words", but says he never laid a hand on the guy. Under GA law, that constitutes an alleged simple assault. "The guard refused entry". Tip was in contact with [his wife] "Tiny" by phone and "Tiny" confirmed that Tip should be let in immediately.

As we sai8d above, T.I. was eventually allowed entry, but cops say he returned to the guard shack a while later ... and that's when the guard called police.

The Washington Post left a message with Henry County Police Deputy Mike Ireland seeking more information.

Aside from being a rapper and actor, T.I.is also a activist involved in local and national social issues. Holmes was arrested on outstanding charges out of Clayton County and for not having proof of auto insurance. "When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip's side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip".
