A security operation will be mounted in and around FNB Stadium to ensure a safe atmosphere when the venue hosts the high-profile worldwide club friendly between Mamelodi Sundowns and Spanish powerhouses Barcelona on Wednesday night. They were received by top officials of Sundowns and scores of football fans who thronged the airport to catch a glimpse of their football idols.

Barcelona are set to arrive in South Africa on Wednesday morning on the day of the clash and will fly out back to Spain after the conclusion of the game. He was the country's first head of state elected in a fully representative democratic election and played a prominent role in the fight against apartheid.

Barcelona have sent a near full-strength squad to Africa for the Nelson Mandela Centenary celebrations friendly match.

The friendly comes after Barca's painful La Liga loss to Levante over the weekend, which result denied them a record unbeaten run in the season.
