Winnipeg Jets vs. Vegas Golden Knights, 5-16-2018 - Prediction & Preview

Heading into Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Wednesday, they've gone 26 games without dropping two in a row - dating all the way back to a three-game slide from March 10-13.

The Jets did not win the game but given the way they played at even strength they will win more than they lose and Jets fans should take solace in that as the series moves to Vegas.

"If you're going to talk out there in the media that you have to be better, I think you need to lead by example", he said. "I tried to do that tonight". Marchessault scored twice in the outing and both goals were tremendously important. Stealing road wins is a major key to success to succeeding in the postseason, and now the Jets must return serve to get past the upstart expansion club. The second was one that hushed a temporarily rejuvenated Bell MTS Place. The first goal isn't going to necessarily make or break us tonight, but you'd like to get off to a good start. They'll surely serve as a warm memory from the Golden Knights' first Stanley Cup run.

Ted Gobert lived in Winnipeg for more than 30 years but now lives in Pemberton, B.C. When he found out his beloved team was going to be playing in Vegas, he knew he had to get there.

"We know how to play on the road".

"It's huge when you haven't lost two games in a row". Marchessault restored the two-goal lead 1 minute, 28 seconds later.

"I was not impressed with Vegas' play at all". Faced with an early challenge from Jacob Trouba, tussling with the Jets defender to the extent both were sent off for roughing. "He's been great for us all year".

Smith slid the puck over and Marchessault made it count. All three of those guys play well together and "Marchy" finishes it off when he needs to.

- Their lone win when not scoring the first goal was in Game 3 of Round 2 against Nashville when the Jets erased a 3-0 first period deficit and went on to win 7-4.

The good part is that they can count on him to show up in Game 3, which can allow them to focus on solving Marc-Andre Fleury and his Golden Knights teammates. "We just need to look at ourselves in the mirror at the end of the game and if we can do that we'll be fine".

Chance debuted back in October, when the prospect of a Vegas-led push for the Stanley Cup was still a running joke. Since 2005-06, Ovechkin has averaged 0.98 points per game in the playoffs, tied for fourth with Nikita Kucherov among all players with at least 50 games played.

The Golden Knights then dominated the final seven minutes of the opening period, scoring two goals less than four minutes apart and hitting the post on two more tries. So much experience, he's seen a lot of goalies, guys I grew up watching and liking, and he's coached them. "If you give them a little light or a little day, they're going to take advantage of it". So, for us, we're trying to clog it up as much as we can.

"This crowd is going to be buzzing tonight", Perron said.

Pair the smothering neutral-zone play with tight defensive structure in their own zone and the Golden Knights' patented high-pressure forecheck and it was tough for the Jets to get anything after earning those aforementioned early opportunities.

Kyle Connor got his third goal of the playoffs on a power play goal after a rush initiated by Tyler Myers.

"I think we're just enjoying the time right now", Ovechkin said before Game 2.

They stunned the hockey world by winning the Pacific Division title in their inaugural season and cruising through the first two rounds in postseason.
