Siasia faults Rohr's World Cup selection

Francis Uzoho, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye and Daniel Akpeyi are battling for the team's goal keeping spot.

Rohr released a 30-man preliminary World Cup squad on Monday, and Siasia has expressed surprise at the exclusion of some players.

The Midfielders include Mikel Obi (Captain), Joel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Mikel Agu, Etebo Oghenekaro, John Ogu, Uche Ago and Wilfred Ndidi.

"We pray also for the players to remain injury-free, they must also remain focused and listen to their coach".

"That they are being given the opportunity to represent the country at the world stage is not a bad idea".

And while the former defender feels the list is decent enough, he urges coach Gernot Rohr that all players be given fair hearing in the buildups, and the final decision should be void of influence from higher authorities or sensationalism.

"I also like the fact that he put the list to his chest and did not succumb to pressures before releasing it".

Ambrose Efe of Hibernian, Al Ahly's Junior Ajayi and goalkeeper Austin Ejide ought to have made the list, the former Super Eagles star was quoted to have said by a Complete Sports journalist. "Yes, I believe we are going to do very well at the World Cup because we have the right caliber of players for the tournament", Kanu said.

"The coach must have monitored the players very well". We need to give him all the support he needs, " he said. The team's responsibility is just to play football.

The Super Eagles are heading to their sixth World Cup, having taken part in the 1994, 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2014 editions - with a place in the Round of 16 their best performance ever.
