Israeli army kills Palestinian youth in occupied West Bank

A Palestinian teen jailed for slapping an Israeli soldier near her home in the occupied West Bank lost an appeal on Wednesday for her early release, her supporters said. Israeli forces entered the village and were met by stone throwers, according to the victim's uncle Bassem Tamimi.

The video of Tamimi's confrontation with the soldiers went viral, with some Israelis saying it was an example of the army not responding to provocations, but others saying the soldiers were humiliated.

Ezzadin Tamimi was shot dead when troops came to arrest him over alleged stone throwing, the Maan news agency said on Wednesday.

"During an initial was found that a small number of bullets were fired during the incident, and that no shots were deliberately or directly aimed towards her", the IDF statement read, referring to Razan Najjar, who was shot dead while providing aid to other wounded Palestinians in last Friday's demonstrations.

"No IDF troops were injured", the spokesperson confirmed.

It was not immediately clear whether Tamimi died at the scene or after the soldiers took him away in an armoured vehicle.

Footage filmed by several residents showed Israeli forces firing sound bombs in the general direction of the crowd.

Nabi Saleh has always been in the spotlight for its demonstrations against Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territory, and as a result has been under heightened pressure by Israeli forces, who regularly carry out raids in the area.

Israeli occupation forces killed another member of the Tamimi family in the occupied West Bank town of Nabi Saleh.

The accusation against former IDF soldier, American-born 24-year-old Rebecca, spread quickly after "Freedom for Gaza" Facebook page shared an old picture of her claiming she had "executed a 21-year-old Palestinian nurse in Gaza", Times of Israel reported.
