NHS Digital deputy chief executive awarded CBE in Birthday Honours 2018

The Queen's Birthday Honours List recognises the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom.

This is what the honours system should be all about, recognising not just those in the public eye whose achievements are familiar to us all, but giving due credit to those who go about their good deeds unnoticed and unthanked by those outside the small sphere in which their work is known.

Sir Kenny who managed Liverpool at the time of the Hillsborough disaster, said he was "hugely proud to have accepted the accolade" for services to football, charity and the City of Liverpool. "We can do better than this and we will continue to strive to do better", Stone added.

He was made an OBE in 2007 for his work.

Sporting stars are well represented among the recipients, with Premier League and England striker Jermain Defoe describing himself as "blessed and humbled" to be recognised with an OBE for his services to the charitable foundation set up in his name.

Nigerian-born boxer Anthony Joshua has been awarded a special Order of the British Empire (OBE) By the Queen of England for his service to boxing in the United Kingdom.

"I have had the privilege to work with some exceptional women over my 56-year career and I think we have managed to not only promote the interests of a key United Kingdom industry, but also provide the nurturing and support for young women in business that was simply not there when I started in 1962", said Neville.

John Short, chief executive at the trust, said: "I was so delighted to hear that Katharine has been awarded this well-deserved honour".

Poet Kate Clanchy said she would like to think her MBE honours her work in schools.

Joseph Berry was also awarded a BEM for services to music and the community in Newry.
