IHOP Becomes IHOb: See the Funniest Reactions

IHOP Becomes IHOb: See the Funniest Reactions

IHOP has changed its name to IHOb because of ... burgers, a thrilling end to the story that has captured America's attention since Wednesday.

At least one IHOP restaurant - fittingly in Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard - is changing its signage to IHOb on Monday, management said.

Last week IHOP tweeted that it was changing its name to IHOb.

IHOP has flipped its name to represent the restaurant's new specialty burger menu.

The company known for breakfast already had burgers on the menu, but is adding a line made of Black Angus ground beef. On June 4, it announced they were flipping to "p" to a "b", but not what the "b" was going to stand for. Many on social media guessed that it would be "breakfast", "bacon" and yes, some got it right with burgers.

Darren Rebelez, the president of IHOP, explained the re-branding and put restaurant-goers at ease in a statement. The name change, though, is meant to help the franchise connect with more people.

"The big opportunity for the IHOb brand is to develop our lunch and dinner business".

Even so, the chain's competitors - and consumers - didn't take long to register their own, often humorous, takes on the supposed new name. When asked if IHOP was considering food-fusion menu items - remember Burger King's Whopperito or Taco Bell's Nacho Fries?

Still, IHOb's bigger goal appears to have been achieved: To get consumers talking about the brand.
